During the Governor’s visit to the Shokri Industrial Group, the challenges faced by industries in Kermanshah Province and energy supply issues were discussed.

On the sidelines of the Governor of Kermanshah’s visit to the Shokri Industrial Group, Engineer Jahanbakhsh Shokri, while pointing out the major issues regarding electricity and gas supply for industries in the province, appreciated the positive cooperation of local authorities and called for greater support for the industries of Kermanshah Province.

During the visit, he stated: “The issues raised, including the alignment of electricity and gas, are also present at the national level. However, I must thank Mr. Hosseini and other local authorities such as Mr. Moradi and Mr. Aflati, who have always shown full support. This cooperation reflects the concern of the authorities about the state of the province’s industry.”

Engineer Shokri continued, saying: “Kermanshah Province consumes about 200 megawatts of electricity, which seems low compared to provinces with higher electricity consumption. Therefore, it is essential that more facilities be provided to the industries of Kermanshah to ensure the supply of electricity and gas, in order to prevent existing problems and pressures.”

He also spoke about the economic situation of the province’s production units, emphasizing: “Currently, production units in the province are facing many challenges. Many units are under severe financial pressure due to their inability to pay debts to banks, social security, and energy costs, and they face penalties daily. The government must provide support packages for these units to reduce their financial problems during power and gas outages.”

At the end, Engineer Jahanbakhsh Shokri mentioned the implementation of solar power plant projects as one of the proposed solutions for meeting the energy needs of industries in the province and stated: “All units are ready to build solar power plants, but for this, we need bank facilities and government support. We hope to implement these projects using affordable financing and Clause 18, and overcome this energy crisis.”

He also referred to the 70% progress of the solar power plant project at the Shokri Industrial Group and expressed hope that, in the coming months, with the resolution of existing issues, this project will be operational and make a significant contribution to meeting the energy needs of industries in Kermanshah Province.

Engineer Jahandar Shokri, while thanking and welcoming the Governor, officials, and guests, elaborated on the fundamental issues and challenges facing industries in Kermanshah Province. During this visit, he pointed out the issue of energy imbalance, which is currently having widespread negative impacts on industries in the province. According to his statements, the production capacity of many industries in the province has dropped below 40%, a situation that has raised significant concerns among economic stakeholders.

He further mentioned the additional problems caused by nationwide bank closures and the inability to make timely social security payments, which have placed additional pressure on industries. He stated that Kermanshah Province, given the unique circumstances it faced during the Iran-Iraq war, now requires special attention to improve its economic situation and align with other provinces.

Jahandar Shokri went on to mention the delays in payments and the problems this has caused for industrial units, stating that in the past, paying social security dues and other obligations on time was possible. However, there are now issues in this regard, which have raised concerns about the production process and industrial activities. In these circumstances, small and medium-sized industries in the province are facing even greater challenges.

He urged the authorities to pay special attention to the existing problems in managing resources and securing energy for industries in the province, and to consider practical and effective solutions to address concerns and facilitate the economic conditions of the province.

During the Governor of Kermanshah’s visit to the Shokri Industrial Group, Jahandar Shokri, in an important and impactful statement, emphasized the need to increase the authority of local managers and called for the Governor’s special attention to this matter.

He stated: “The managers of the province are working tirelessly, but they need more authority to perform better in facing the various challenges in the energy and industry sectors.” He further emphasized Kermanshah Province’s high potential in the steel and energy industries and highlighted the necessity of optimal use of energy resources, especially gas and electricity. Referring to the existing challenges in this area, he noted that with efficient management of gas consumption in the steel industry and the implementation of new energy projects, the current problems could be resolved.

This industrial manager also pointed out the vast potential of the young workforce in Kermanshah Province, stating that with proper support and appropriate planning, the youth of Kermanshah could play a key role in the industrial and economic development of the province.

Engineer Shokri also expressed gratitude for the continuous cooperation with the local authorities to address industrial issues and expressed hope that the future of the province would be bright, given its existing potential.

Engineer Jahandar Shokri, an economic activist and young entrepreneur from Kermanshah, during this visit, discussed the challenges and issues facing the industrial and urban development of Kermanshah with the Governor and accompanying delegation.

He, referring to the continuous efforts of himself and his colleagues for the growth and progress of the province, emphasized that despite many obstacles, the path to development remains hopeful and promising for him.

He initially referred to the development path of Kermanshah Province, saying: “As a young person, I may sometimes experience stress or despair, but I have always tried to work for the progress of Kermanshah and the well-being of its people. I have consulted with influential people and noble individuals in our city so that together we can solve the problems and bring peace back to the province.”

He also emphasized the importance of investing in the province, stating: “Kermanshah is a home for me, and it is always necessary to invest in it. We have been advised and always reminded that the resources we obtain in Kermanshah should be invested within the province so that its people benefit from it. This investment is the province’s investment.”

In another part of his speech, Engineer Jahandar Shokri referred to the educational activities of the Shokri Industrial Group, saying: “In Kermanshah and within the Shokri Industrial Group, the Jahan Foulad Gharb Applied Science and Technology Training Center is active, where we teach around 70 to 80 students. Our goal is to ensure that students acquire both theoretical and practical skills so that after graduation, they can work in the industrial and manufacturing sectors and advance to higher job positions.”

He continued by addressing the challenges faced by production units in the province, stating that after the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), some production units were established with the support of the National Development Fund. However, these units are now facing serious challenges. One of these challenges is the currency exchange rate difference, as when these units were established, foreign exchange facilities were provided at a rate of 2,500 to 3,000 tomans per dollar. At that time, no one predicted that the exchange rate would suddenly increase exponentially. This rise in the exchange rate, by 20 to 30 times, has forced production units to repay their loans at much higher rates. If no solution is found for this issue, the units that benefited from the National Development Fund will face serious challenges and significant problems.

At the end of his speech, Engineer Jahandar Shokri emphasized the need for solidarity and cooperation between the people and authorities, saying: “Iran is my home, but Kermanshah is my city.”

He also stated, “To solve economic problems and achieve sustainable development, we must work together hand in hand. I am hopeful for the future of Kermanshah and I ask the people and authorities to join forces in this path so that, together, we can overcome the challenges and witness the growth and prosperity of the province.”
