Iran, due to its abundant natural, mineral, human resources, and strategic geographical location in the region, has significant potential for investment in various sectors including production, industry, agriculture, and tourism. With a reevaluation of macroeconomic management and the introduction of appropriate financial incentives, a large number of investors can be directed towards these industries. Kermanshah province is no exception to this rule and possesses high potential for establishing and developing these industries. The province has faced less development due to damages inflicted by war, particularly the destruction of its infrastructure, and the recent upward trend in currency prices over the past years, which continues to pose serious challenges to investment in the region.
Without a doubt, special government support for key industries, creating sustainable employment, will stimulate activity in downstream sectors and ultimately contribute to the economic growth of the province and the country. The steel industry, as a crucial and foundational sector, has played a significant role in the growth and development of industrialized nations. Per capita steel consumption is consistently evaluated as a benchmark for economic growth and development in countries. Nevertheless, the steel sector faces numerous challenges that necessitate the formulation of cohesive strategies.
Despite all the challenges and difficulties in recent years, Shokri Industrial and Commercial Group has embarked on the construction and operation of the Bisotoun Steel Complex, relying on local knowledge and regional strategies, as well as utilizing experienced international consultants. The aim is to contribute to the growth, development, and advancement of the steel industry and the country’s economy by producing steel products. Emphasis on localization, currency savings, job creation, and support for national production and consumer rights has led the group not only to produce steel products such as rebar and related items but also to establish and operate a steel billet production plant using scrap iron recycling to create a supply chain for necessary raw materials. According to economic and management experts, establishing and managing a supply chain is a crucial step for the survival of any industry. Shokri Industrial and Commercial Group, alongside economic consultants, has taken a small step in this direction. With the goal of expanding production, reducing pollutants, and preserving the environment, this growth and development continues with ongoing projects to establish a Direct Reduced Iron production plant and a power plant. These projects are aimed not only at producing raw materials for rolling but also at supplying the necessary electricity, contributing significantly to energy conservation, optimizing energy consumption in resource management, and preserving the environment. In this regard, the installation and commissioning of dust collection systems for steel furnaces and the optimized water consumption system through purification and recycling in the production cycle have been part of the complex’s efforts towards efficient resource use and environmental preservation successfully implemented with the help of God.
On the date of 11th February 2019, the esteemed President of Iran, Dr. Hassan Rouhani, inaugurated the Bisotoun Steel Company.
Shokri Industrial and Commercial Group, encompassing companies such as Jahan Foulad Gharb, Sima Foulad Jahan, Jahan Sanat Kermanshah, Jahan Bar Foulad, and the Bisotoun ISteel company, with a 70-year history of economic and industrial activities in Kermanshah province, has proudly contributed significantly to employment in the province by employing 1300 young individuals. This effort addresses the issue of unemployment, a concern of the caring officials of this system, and has successfully paved the way for development and progress, particularly during a year emphasized by the esteemed leadership about the growth of production.
The Bisotoun Iron Smelting Complex was established to complete the supply chain of the group’s companies. With the goal of producing various types of carbon and alloy steel ingots, as well as sponge iron, it began operations in 2009 with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons of steel ingots, 150,000 tons of sponge iron, and 12 megawatts of electricity (produced and recycled from waste). Thanks to the efforts of the government of Prudence and Hope, and coinciding with the negotiations of the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), credit facilities for this project were facilitated in 2015, and its implementation began in 2016.
As of today, with an expenditure exceeding 8570 billion Rials, the entire complex project has achieved 72% physical progress. Its first phase, with an investment of 7000 billion Rials, was inaugurated by the esteemed President on the mentioned date.
On May 11, 2019, Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimin Dr. Hassan Rouhani discussed with the engineers and employees of the complex about the various visits he made to the first phase of Bistun Iron Smelting Complex.
The esteemed President expressed satisfaction with the full observance of workers’ rights and the legal increase in their wages by this company, as well as the employment of young and local forces from the province.
In this magnificent ceremony, attended by the honorable Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, along with a high-ranking delegation, the Leader of mid-day congressional Friday prayers , and the esteemed Governor of Kermanshah, several workers of this company expressed their satisfaction during a conversation with the esteemed President regarding the level of their wages and benefits, timely payments by the company, and their employment in their hometown. They also requested increased support from the esteemed government for the province’s industries and assistance in establishing similar factories to create employment opportunities for the youth of the region.
