According to the Public Relations Office of the Shokri Industrial Group, on the occasion of Environment Week, a specialized conference titled “Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development” was held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Kermanshah Oil Refinery. The event was attended by general directors, experts, and heads of HSE and environmental units from various industries across Kermanshah Province, including the head of the environmental unit at Bisotoun Steel, part of the Shokri Industrial Group.

During this specialized session, a group of senior industrial managers and environmental activists exchanged views on achievements, challenges, and solutions to improve environmental performance within the industry.

At the beginning of the conference, Mr. Dezfolinejad, Director General of the Department of Environment of Kermanshah Province, expressed appreciation for the efforts made by industries to comply with environmental regulations, stating:
“In recent years, the industries of Kermanshah Province have made significant strides in reducing pollutants and improving processes. Among them, I would like to highlight Bisotoun Steel, a subsidiary of the Shokri Industrial Group, as one of the committed and active companies in the field of environmental protection that has consistently worked to optimize its performance.”

He went on to emphasize the important role of experts and HSE units as the front line of environmental protection, saying:
“A shift in public perception toward environmental issues is essential. Environmental protection should not be seen as a cost, but as a strategic investment in the sustainable development of the country.”

Following him, Mr. Kavian, CEO of Kermanshah Oil Refinery, spoke about the company’s initiatives, stating:
“The fuel oil produced at the refinery complies with the 2020 standard, and since 2009, under the supervision of the Department of Environment, we have implemented a successful project for the recycling of oily sludge, which was selected as the best project by the Ministry of Petroleum.”
He also discussed innovative measures in water resource management, adding:
“Treated water from industrial processes is reused in sectors such as firefighting and agriculture. With the use of recirculating systems and cooling towers, raw water consumption has been significantly reduced.”
