The Bisotoun Steel Complex is introduced in the 2026 Iran Steel Yearbook as one of the key components of Shokri Industrial Group’s steel production value chain. The complex operates with the aim of supplying the raw materials required by the group’s rolling mills and completing the steel value chain in Kermanshah Province.
With approximately 70 years of economic and industrial activity in Kermanshah, Shokri Industrial Group consists of five companies: Bisotoun Steel Complex, Jahan Foulad Gharb Complex, Sima Foulad Jahan, Jahan Sanat Kermanshah, a knowledge-based company, and Jahan Bar Foulad. The group focuses on developing its production value chain and creating synergies among its subsidiaries by leveraging specialized human resources, technical expertise, and modern technologies.
According to information published in the 2026 Iran Steel Yearbook, the Bisotoun Steel Complex operates through three main sections: steelmaking, direct reduced iron (DRI) production, and power generation. The steelmaking unit is equipped with two 30-ton dual-ladle induction furnaces, a 15 MW transformer, a 30-ton ladle furnace with a 7.5 MW transformer, and a two-strand continuous casting machine with the capacity to be expanded to four strands. The unit has an annual steel billet production capacity of 200,000 tons.
In the direct reduction section, a rotary kiln operating under the SL/RN process and using coal is in operation, with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of direct reduced iron (DRI).
Another important section of the Bisotoun Steel Complex is its 12 MW power plant, which uses steam generated during the industrial process. At the power plant, exhaust gas from the direct reduction furnace, at a temperature of approximately 1,000°C, is utilized as part of the energy supply process.
The establishment of this complex has played an important role in reducing the Shokri Industrial Group’s steel production chain’s dependence on raw material supplies from abroad and in reducing foreign currency outflows. The stable supply of billets required by the group’s rolling mills has also enabled greater coordination among different stages of the production chain.
Alongside Bisotoun Steel, Jahan Foulad Gharb operates in the rolling of steel products, Sima Foulad Jahan specializes in rebar production, Jahan Sanat Kermanshah operates in engineering and equipment manufacturing, and Jahan Bar Foulad provides road transportation and logistical support.
The inclusion of the Bisotoun Steel Complex in the 2026 Iran Steel Yearbook reflects the complex’s position within Shokri Industrial Group’s steel production value chain and its role in expanding steel production capacity in Kermanshah Province.
